Reinforced rubber – What is it?

Reinforced rubber is one of the many materials available to purchase from Stephens Gaskets. Often known as insertion rubber, the material differs from commercial rubber due to the way it has been formulated. During the manufacturing process, the rubber benefits from a single ply 22 gsm cotton reinforcement. This creates a fabric reinforced insertion rubber that has a significantly higher tensile strength and resistance compared to commercial rubber.

Where can you use reinforced insertion rubber?

Fabric reinforced insertion rubber, can be a much more reliable material to use than commercial rubber due to its strength. The material’s incredibly high tear-resistance means that it can be used in a much wider scope of applications – including vehicle mud flaps, worktops, rubber gaskets and counters. The reinforcement of cotton into the rubber means the material will not tear easily, making it one of the most hardwearing forms of rubber available on the market. Its tensile strength also makes it a common material to use for horsebox partitions and to fit underneath doors as a draught preventative.

Buying insertion rubber

Reinforced rubber can be supplied in rubber strips, rubber rolls, pads and cut gaskets here at Stephens Gaskets, which means it can be used to accommodate many different requirements. The rubber sheet material is able to withstand temperatures ranging between -30°C to 70°C and has an impressive shore hardness of 65°. Customers can purchase reinforced rubber in rolls that measure 1.4m wide x 10m long, these are ready to be used immediately for added ease and convenience.
