Novus 30 gaskets are made from compressed non-asbestos fibre (CNAF) materials. They consist of aramid fibres and special fillers bound with a nitrile rubber (NBR) matrix, making them a safer and more modern alternative to traditional asbestos-based gasket materials.

Manufacturing Materials for Gasket Selection

1. Non-Asbestos Fibre (CNAF)

Ideal for general manufacturing and utility applications. Novus 30 and similar CNAF materials are excellent for standard flange sealing.

2. Graphite Gaskets

Resist extreme heat and harsh chemicals. Used in power generation, refineries, and high-temperature process systems.

3. PTFE Gaskets

Offer full chemical resistance and non-contaminating performance. Ideal for corrosive fluid lines in food, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries.

4. Rubber Gaskets (NBR, EPDM, Neoprene)

Issues Novus 30 Helps Solve

• Not for Highly Aggressive Chemicals
  While Novus 30 handles most industrial fluids, it is not suited for strong acids, alkalis, or solvents. PTFE or graphite options are better for those cases.
• Temperature Sensitivity
  Its operating range peaks at around 400°C short-term. For prolonged or extreme heat exposure, graphite-based materials are recommended.
• Creep and Compression Set
  Under prolonged stress or high load, some compression set can occur. This is typical of CNAF materials and can be managed through proper bolt load and inspection.
• Not Suitable for High-Movement Joints
  Best used in static applications. For dynamic or vibrating joints, flexible or metal-reinforced alternatives are preferable.
• Sensitive to Installation Practices
  Surface finish, bolt loading, and proper torque are critical for achieving a reliable seal. Improper installation can lead to leaks or premature gasket failure.
